Upcoming Projects
The Trust currently has plans for two projects to be implemented from 2015 onwards.

Project on System of Rice Intensification (SRI)
Replicating and scaling SRI in an Indian state (e.g. Orissa) where it is not yet a known or prevalent practice is a research opportunity with three dimensions. Firstly, institutions may recognize (the model has a strong ‘Green Economy’ foundation) it as a technique to support ‘Green Economy’ transitions. Secondly, high yielding organic rice could be commercially grown, branded, and sold to organic export markets, making it a strong alternative income source. Third, the carbon emissions savings (reduced CH4 emissions) could contribute to state level and national level targets set by India. The Trust has already selected the appropriate site for the case study and has successfully identified the staff needed to implement the project.

Updating of GAISP Monographs
The Trust plans to provide an updated version of its Monographs (M1, 2, 4, 7) to ensure that they take into account the most recent data and can therefore, be of more use to policymakers for planned legislative changes, etc.

Past Projects

Green Accounting For Indian States Project (GAISP)
GAISP, our Green Accounting for Indian States Project, measured sustainable development at a State level in India, sourcing data only from official Indian national databases, and consistent with the United Nations’ SEEA - 2003 guidelines. Adherence to these guidelines and sourcing data only from official national databases (but with granularity at State level) ensures legitimacy

Tropical Carbon Forest for GLOBE
GIST has made an important submission for TEEB on Tropical Carbon Forest for GLOBE (Global Legislators for a Balanced Environment) and for consensus building at UNFCCC (COP15) in Copenhagen, December, 2009.
